Debora Cordero Martinez is a self-taught artist born in the barrios of Puerto Rico. Her parents, natives of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, immigrated to the United States in search of better opportunities. They eventually settled in Central Florida where Debora spent most of her childhood residing. In 2018, she attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, graduating in 2022 with a major in Visual Arts, a minor in Sociology, and a certificate in Markets and Management Studies. Currently, she resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Debora’s work reflects her curiosity about the complexities of society as well as her interest in the expressivity found in pop culture by tackling intricate social issues with whimsical scenery, comic-style line work, and lively palettes. By fusing playful elements with heavy themes, Debora draws out the nuances of humanity and challenges herself along with her viewers to expand their perspectives on the topics addressed in her work. She hopes her thought-provoking artwork will inspire radical acceptance, promoting equity and inclusion across all communities and institutions.

Debora’s work has been recognized locally, regionally, and nationwide with 3 Best of Show titles, the opportunity to design artwork for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and illustrator credits on 3 children’s books. She is eager to continue to further her career by perfecting her craft while expanding her skillsets and impact through her current position as a Brand Social Coordinator at BET Digital and Social.
